CLASS:y was made through ‘My Teenage Girl’, and recently, CLASS:y released their 2nd mini album [Day & Night] which they are now promoting.
But there was someone on ‘My Teenage Girl’ who sadly didn’t get to become a member of CLASS:y.

It’s Kim Yooyeon, who surprised people with her innocent visual and her being a student of Ewha Womans University. Yooyeon debuted as a member of 24-member girl group tripleS’s sub-unit called Acid Angel From Asia around the same time as CLASS:y’s comeback, like fate. tripleS is known to have a system similar to a survival audition program.
Let’s see who will be teammates of Yooyeon in the sub-unit!
A group like a survival show
tripleS is a 24-member girl group! But it seems unlikely that all 24 members of the group will ever perform on stage together.
Just like NCT, consisting of 23 members, who mostly focus on unit activities, tripleS is planning to do unit activities based on their system called dimension.
But this “dimension system” is a very cruel system.
Apparently, tripleS is planning to continue to make unit dimensions with new combinations of members.
And the members are selected through voting. If you register tripleS’s photocards on tripleS’s own app called COSMO, you can cast your votes.
In the end, it’s a similar system to how Japan’s AKB group uses albums as votes for the general election voting.
The sub-unit members who are selected through voting engage in promotional activities for their album, and whether or not the sub-unit remains is decided by whether or not the album sold 100,000 copies or more.
In the end, it’s a cruel survival system where the members’ activities are decided by their popularity.
But since only 8 members of tripleS have been revealed so far, all the members got to debut as sub-unit members this time.
But they were divided into 2 sub-units, and the combinations of members were decided through fans’ votes on which member will fit which song and which sub-unit.
So in the end, sub-units called Acid Angel from Asia and +(KR)ystal Eyes were made. And through fans’ votes, Yooyeon became a member of Acid Angel from Asia
and got to debut along with 3 other members.

Baby genius Jeong Hyerin
Born in 2007, Hyerin is only 16 (Korean age). She is the youngest one in Acid Angel from Asia as well as tripleS.
Starting in 5th grade, she wanted to become an idol, and at age 12, she got to model for a commercial. and starred in the web-drama ‘Between Us’ as a child actress.
Hyerin is from Daegu, and when she was in 6th grade, she started attending an institute in Seoul to chase her dream more actively.
She was also trained at P NATION and BELIFT LAB. She was actually somewhat popular at BELIFT LAB, so people expected her to be on ‘I-LAND 2’.
But surprisingly, Hyerin was revealed to the public as tripleS’s second member, though she was the youngest one.
Despite her young age, she is a skilled member who already has about 3 years of experience as a trainee.
Snooty doe Kim Nakyoung
Born in 2002, Nakyoung was revealed to the public as tripleS’s 7th member.
Her cold-hearted visual and her teaser shot with a hiphop vibe unlike the other members surprised the fans.
But there was one more surprising fact. It’s that she is a younger sister of singer BIBI.
Previously, when BIBI was on ‘The FAN’, Nakyoung once made an appearance.
Talented like her sister, Nakyoung spent time as a trainee at P NATION and she also met tripleS’s maknae Hyerin.
Like her sister BIBI, Nakyoung is skilled and has uniquely captivating vocals.
Chef Gong Yubin
Born in 2005, Yubin was revealed to the public as tripleS’s 8th member.
Yubin has a unique history of making it to Top 3 on the teenage cooking program ‘I am Chef’.
At the time, she was nicknamed the Queen of Meat Broth and was so good with cooking soup.
But her dream was to become an entertainer, not a chef.
In 7th grade, she tried acting, which was when she became friends with Lee Jiwoo, a former contestant of ‘My Teenage Girl’ and tripleS’s 3rd member.
In contrast to her cute and innocent visual, Yubin is a member with surprisingly powerful dance moves.
Ewha Univ’s goddess Kim Yooyeon
In the last episode of ‘My Teenage Girl’, Yooyeon took 8th place and sadly failed to debut through CLASS:y!
“It was exhilarating to have become famous.” said Yooyeon in the end, and later, she was revealed as tripleS’s 5th member.
At the time, her agency didn’t even tell her that she had been selected as a tripleS member, so Yooyeon was so surprised when she saw the teaser video on tripleS’s YouTube channel, and Jiwoo, who was also a contestant on ‘My Teenage Girl’ and became a tripleS member before Yooyeon, was also very surprised.
Yooyeon did so well in school that she was even a student of Ewha Womans Univ, and she had stunning visual, but she started chasing her dream of becoming an idol a little late, so a lot of fans were worried about her skills.
However, if you see her performing Acid Angel from Asia’s debut title track ‘Generation’, you can see how much effort Yooyeon has made.
Compared to her performance of ‘Leon’ on ‘My Teenage Girl’ which is now a taboo to mention, you can see the drastic improvement of Yooyeon’s skills.
Acid Angel from Asia, consisting of Yooyeon, Nakyoung, Yubin, and Hyerin who were assigned as members by the fans who wanted to see them in a sub-unit, debuted with their mini album [ACCESS].
They debuted on Oct 28, but their physical album, which will determine whether or not they’ll remain as a sub-unit, will go on sale on Nov 7.
With its catchy melody and choreography, the title track ‘Generation’ is quite popular in short video clips, like TikTok videos.
I hope that Acid Angel from Asia, who have released a cool album, gain many fans and remain as a sub-unit in the future.
